I received this email:
We are working through the Cornelia primer that was made available through CompassClassroom. Is there an answer book to make sure I am translating correctly? Just wondering how to incorporate this along with VL. I am also curious if you place equal value in translating English to Latin and Latin to English.
Thanks!
Here is my reply:
There is no translation that I know of. I need to make one. I will add that to my list of projects.
As for translation, go from Latin to English for a while. When you feel comfortable, go the other direction. Translating from English to Latin is quite a bit more challenging. Of course, you could start there right away, but just for practice. It’s actually a lot of fun, as long as you don’t take it too seriously. You will make more mistakes going from English into Latin. Keep this open nearby as you work: http://archives.nd.edu/words.html
As for incorporating Cornelia into Visual Latin, just wait until you are done with lesson 20 or so in Visual Latin, then start reading Cornelia.
Let me know if you have any more questions!
