I fell of the wagon this year.
In October, my wife and I had an argument. We argue from time to time. It’s no fun. This one, however, was, for me, demotivating. The fallout spilled over.
For a while, I stopped blogging. I stopped posting the “word of the day”. I stopped producing You Tube Videos. In short, I stopped caring about my work.
Worst part? I can’t even remember what we were arguing about. Sigh.
Personally, I think confrontation is a waste of time. I avoid it.
That has not always been my approach. When I was younger, I had the impulses of a bulldog. I would jump into arguments and fights because they were worthy arguments or fights. At least, I would tell myself they were worthy arguments.
I no longer do that. The only person I still argue with is my wife. We try not to argue, but, from time to time, we find ourselves in another argument. Ah, well. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.
So. What in the world does this have to do with anything?
Every year, I set New Year’s resolutions. I know. It’s an antiquated action, but… I do it anyway.
In truth, I am simply reviewing, re-evaluating, and refreshing goals I set years ago. Usually, I have no new goals.
This holiday season, though, I do have a few new goals. And, in fact, they involve you.
Last year, I launched this site, turned it into a digital store, moved all of my online classes over to this site, and set it up as the home of the “word of the day”.
After my altercation with my wife (which, I should emphasize… we did resolve), I dropped the “word of the day”. That was a mistake.
Hence, the New Year’s resolution. I have several goals for this site in 2015. My first goal is to blog every day of the week… except Sunday. Second, I intend to start posting the “word of the day” once again. I’ve missed it. And, so have a few readers.
I didn’t think anyone was paying attention to the “word of the day”. Then I stopped posting. I received several complaints, and more than a few inquiries. They all added up to the same thing… “Hey! What happened to the Word of the Day?”
First, I lost my motivation. Then, I got lazy. That’s what happened.
In 2015, the “Word of the Day” is coming back.
Of course, there are a few exceptions. My son and I will be sailing around in the Atlantic for a week in May. He is a Boy Scout. He has invited me to come with him on a high adventure Scout trip. I doubt I will post while we are out at sea.
Here is where you come in. I need your help. I need you to keep me accountable. If I don’t post the “Word of the Day”, if I don’t blog, if I don’t upload more videos to You Tube, contact me. Get on my case. Keep me accountable.
I need it.
Happy New Year!
