I received this inquiry:
“I am interested in signing my daughter up for your online class next year, however Tuesdays from 3-3:55 she will be in Speech and Debate class. Is the format of this class such that she will succeed just watching the recorded classes? She would probably never be able to join live, so this is a big question in my mind.”
Here is my reply:
Hi!
All the classes are definitely recorded. In fact, I am in the process of developing some high-quality recordings for the class as well. So, yes, she could skip class and still “attend.”
She would only miss the live interaction between myself and the students, but, honestly this is a distraction for many students. She may actually do better without the live interaction.
Students in the live classes send a homework assignment to me each week, which I grade personally. If your daughter needs a grade for this class, she would need to send homework in as well.
By the end of the summer, I will be setting up a recording only “audit” option. In the audit option, students will watch the videos and learn on their own. I will not provide personal grading for the audit course.
Let me know if you have any other questions!
