Yesterday, my wife invited some friends and relatives over for lunch.

She made a cheesecake.  But, here’s the thing.  She made it from cashews.  I suppose she should have called it cashewcake.

No one complained.  Quite the opposite.  Everyone was really enjoying it.  They didn’t know it was made from cashews.  Because… she didn’t call it cashewcake.

When she told everyone what she had done, they were stunned.  They were stunned because plant-based desserts aren’t supposed to taste good.  But, it did.  It really did.

Everyone wanted to know why my wife was making cheesecake from cashews.  She does stuff like that for me.  I don’t eat meat or dairy.

Naturally, our guests wanted to know why I don’t eat meat or dairy.

There are lots of reasons, of course.  Too many to go into here.  But, here is one of the big ones.

Years ago, when it first came out, my wife and I watched the documentary Forks Over Knives.  Several medical doctors in the documentary, make a very compelling case.  They claim we can drastically improve our health, and even reverse disease by doing what our mothers have been telling us to do all along.  “Eat your veggies!”

If you haven’t watched the documentary, I think it is worth your time.

You can watch it on their site here:

Or, you can watch it on YouTube here:

And, of course, you can watch it on Amazon:

If you don’t want to rent the movie, I have linked a free talk by Dr.Esselstyn below.  He is one of the doctors in the documentary.

If you watch the documentary, and if you do start eating more veggies, make sure you tell your mom.  You will make her proud.

Last week, I recommended the book, Skip College: Launch Your Career Without Debt, Distractions, or a Degree.  After recommending the book, I hit send and ran away to Florida.  You know… to avoid death threats.

But, the responses actually surprised me.  A lot of you are feeling the same way about college.  So many, in fact, that it is going to take days to respond to everyone.

Classes are back.  Starting early tomorrow morning.

It is possible there will be no classes on Thursday, October 24.  I may be on the road again.  If that happens, I will teach the Thursday classes on Wednesday, October 23.

Just a reminder, because of fall break (last week), classes will no longer end at the end of April.  I will extend classes into the first week of May, and likely beyond.

And, now, here we go again.

The same thing I say every week…

Subscribers sometimes use my weekly emails as reminders to unsubscribe from my site.

I get it.  I should unsubscribe from quite a few websites myself.

But, keep in mind… I offer something no one else in academia (as far as I know) offers.  Stick with me for 3 uninterrupted years and you will have a lifetime subscription

I know this is a pretty dumb business decision on my part, but I have heard from many of you that it is a huge help, so, for now, the offer stands.

And… for the fourth year in a row, I am NOT raising the subscription rate on my site.

Of course, if you are just starting out in Latin, you may be happier with Visual Latin.

Visual Latin is a full-blown Latin course.  It is rigorous, just not as rigorous as the classes on my site.  The classes on my site are more “next level” classes, really.

If you are a subscriber, here is the schedule of classes I am currently teaching:

You are welcome to join any of them or all of them.  There are also many other classes available on my site that you can watch anytime.  No reason to wait around for a live class!

Again… if you aren’t a member and would like to join, click here:

I hope you are having a very happy Monday night!
