This was a tip from Bill Meyer’s Tip of the Week.

Thought you might enjoy it as well.

Using the Wayback Machine

Have you ever wondered how long a particular web site has been around? Or what it looked like when it got started?

Or maybe you’ve lost an image that appeared on the front page of your own site and need a way to recover it.

Or maybe you’re looking for cartoons or old news reel clips you can use in the videos you’re working on.

Maybe you’re searching for an old time radio program or even 78 RPM recordings.

If you’re looking for any of the above, you can probably find it at the free Internet Archive and Wayback machine.

The WayBack Machine has more than 340 billion historical web page screen-shots going back 20 years. You can see what almost any site (including yours) looked like when it first appeared and follow the changes made through time.

The archive also has a huge searchable library of film and video clips, news reels, photos, old radio programs and much more more.

It’s is easy to use and you’ll often be amazed at what you can find there.

To give you a better idea, I’ve created a video showing how to use the Wayback Machine and Internet Archives and I show some of the things that can be found there.

The video is free and you can view it at

Watch it and smile as I show what my own site as well as Google looked like twenty years ago.
