I received this question today:

I am currently lesson planning Visual Latin I for my HS sophomore. Your VL/Lingua Latina schedule does not begin combining the two until lesson 17 or so, but your sample Week 12 lesson already has the student doing chapter 2 of Lingua Latina -should I begin my HSchooler at week 10?

Also, I checked out the quizlet app and can only hear audio in English. I don’t have trouble with the English pronunciation – it’s the Latin I don’t know, lol, am I doing something wrong? Is there a way I can hear the Latin pronounced instead?

Thanks so much – looking forward to using your program this year.

Here is my reply:

The VL/Lingua Latina guidelines are suggested guidelines.  I think most students who are in Visual Latin chapter 10 are likely ready to start Lingua Latina.  But, to be on the safe side, we pushed back the Lingua Latina start date.  If a student starts after they have completed the first 16, 0r 17 lessons of Visual Latin, they have a good head start on Lingua Latina.  You can certainly start earlier, though.

As for the quizlet pronunciation… good idea.  I need to do that.  I have added it to my future projects.  Meanwhile, to master pronunciation, I always recommend starting here:  http://www.bible.is/LTNNVV/Matt/1

Just listen and follow along.  Don’t worry about understanding.  Just imitate the pronunciation.
