They say there is a recession coming in 2016.  I hope not.  I have bad memories from the last recession.  I’d rather not do that again.

I’ve been thinking.  If there really is a recession coming, I might as well offer some recession pricing for my online classes.  After all, you are going to have to make some cutbacks if times get tough.

Let’s be honest.  You could live a happy, fulfilled, productive life without Latin or Greek.  Millions have.  You could, too.  You do not need to spend any money on Latin or Greek.  You know it.  I know it.  Everyone knows it.

It’s just that, not everyone has the courage to say it.

I posted this last year.  You could pay a lot to learn Latin.

I have crossed the prices out on my classes because I am about to  drop the price again

I have decided to compete with myself.  Even though my online classes were already the lowest priced online classes available online, I have decided to lower the price again.  Let’s see if we can beat the upcoming recession…

Last year, I charged an average price of $300 per year per online course.  Just a reminder, that is lower than any other online provider I have found.

This year, I am coming in like a wrecking ball.  (Delete that mental image, please).

Let’s compare the old world to the new world.

In the old world, the brick and mortar world, tuition was expensive.  It had to be.  Someone had to pay for the heat, the water, and the maintenance.  Someone had to pay the administrators, the principal, the janitor, and the teachers.

In the new world, it is different.

I run an online school.  I do not pay for the heat, the water, or the maintenance of a building.  I do not pay an administrator, a principal, a janitor, or teachers.

I do, of course, have some costs.  I have to pay for hosting, internet service, and electricity.  But, those costs are nothing compared to the costs of a brick and mortar school.

In the new world, the rules have changed.

Yet, many online schools are still charging brick and mortar prices.

That is just not necessary.

This year, I am going to lower the prices of my online Latin and Greek classes again.  This will make them, for the fifth year in a row,  the most affordable Latin and Greek classes online.

Not only are my classes the most affordable Latin and Greek classes online, I also insist that my students learn Latin in the shortest amount of time possible.  I believe it should take about two years to learn the complicated Latin grammar.  That is it.  After that, students read.

Given those two variables, you can learn Latin (or Greek) on my site, Think Outside the Border for around $600.  No other online academy even comes close.  (I wrote that last year.  It’s about to drop again.)

Oh, and… you will also pay no registration fees, no application fees, and no hidden fees.

You are also entitled to your money back at any time during the school year.  My classes move at a rapid pace.  If you, or your children, find you have bit off more than you can chew, simply contact me.  I will refund your money.  No questions.  I am that confident you are going to enjoy the classes.

Okay.  Here goes.  In the next few days, I am going to set my site up as a subscription site.

Subscribe for $250 a year, and you will have access to every class I teach.  That’s $250 per family.  You pay an annual subscription and you will have access to every class I teach.  Want to join Henle Latin 1 and 2, Lingua Latin 1, and the Vocabulary class?  Join all of them for $250.

Just in case you are wondering… that is not $250 each class.  That is access to every class I teach for an annual subscription of $250.

I’m not kidding.

  • You can come to all of the live classes.
  • You will have access to all of the recordings (currently over 400 videos and climbing).
  • You will have access to the forums.
  • You will have access to the tests and quizzes.
  • My site will keep track of your grades.
  • You will have access to any special seminars like the Harry Potter class I recently taught.

There is one catch.  If you want me to personally grade your work, the price doubles.  If you want me to personally grade your work, you will have to subscribe at the rate of $500 per year.  That sounds bad… until you look back up at the chart above.  Even $500 per year is still less than you would pay in any other online class.

It all comes down to this.  Raising children is expensive.  Recessions stink.  I would like to help.  If your children are learning Latin and Greek in 2016… why pay more?
