Do you spend a lot of time in the car?

According to Anne Lutz Fenandez in her book, Carjacked: The Culture of the Automobile and its Effect on our Lives, Americans spend eighteen and a half hours a week in their cars!  That’s more than two and a half hours in the car… everyday!

I am always amazed how well versed my students are in pop culture and in pop music.  Now I know why.  It’s because they are studying pop music nearly twenty hours a week!

Turn the radio off.  Life is too short to busy your brain with trouble in the Middle East or with dumb pop music.  You can catch up later.  There will always be trouble in the Middle East and there will always be dumb pop music.

So, now that you have turned the radio off, what do you do with the extra twenty hours you just gave yourself?  Learn something!  Learn another language!  Listen to an audio book!  Invest in yourself!

Have a Great Saturday!
