Beyond Word Up

There are over a million words in the English language.  That is a massive amount of vocabulary!

Latin has an estimated 75,000 words in its dictionary.  Modern German has about 300,000 words.

Yep.  English is wordy.

In 2015, the Compass Classroom and I launched Word Up: the Vocab Show!  In the series, we introduced 200 English words derived from Latin and Greek.

To teach you all the words in English, with a series like Word Up, I will only have to produce 4,999 more DVD’s.  I am not exaggerating. 1,000,000 words divided by 200 words per DVD equals 4,999 more DVD’s.

Not going to do it.  Sorry.

But, what about the words that did not make the cut?  What about the words that did not make it into Word Up?

Well, you will find many of them here!  In this previously recorded year-long course, I will teach you to master English Vocabulary using Latin and Greek roots.  You will also learn to recognize Latin and Greek in English words.  You will learn the history behind so many of our English words.  And, of course, you will gain a command over our language that few today possess.

Words are powerful.  Learn to use them with precision.  You can do that right here:
