I received this question:
My son has taken Visual Latin 1 and is on lesson 49 of VL 2. He loves it! I looked @ your FAQ’s and would like to sign him up for a live Latin class. It looks like your recommendation is the Lingua Latina. Do you have any idea when you are planning on starting that live class again? I want him to continue in Latin without sitting out for a year. His goals are learning Latin and Spanish. To date he has only done the VL series. I would appreciate your suggestions. He loves learning from you and looks forward to a live class.
Here is my reply:
Everyone is asking me to start Lingua Latina back up in the fall… so, I am going to do it. We will start back in September.
Of course, there is no read to wait until then.
I record every class I teach, and I only take them down if I am updating them. Currently, there are 17 classes with around 2,000 videos all arranged by units. In other words, you could go from beginning Latin to advanced Latin easily on my site.
I have quite a few students who use the previous classes only. In fact, many prefer this as they can move at their own rate. Students are always welcome to contact me if they have any questions. There are also forums for each class. In the forums students can interact with each other and ask questions.
I will also be “teaching” Spanish live this year. It will be early in the morning… and, really, I am just reviewing what I know of Spanish in front of my students. I am not fluent and I want people to know that. However, many of my students have gone on to fluency. I can show students the way. And, if I weren’t so bogged down by Henle Latin, I’d be fluent, too. For the time being, I just have to watch my students disappear over the horizon. This class should help me get a little closer to the horizon. .
