This is a small section from a book I am currently working on.  The book is on goal-setting.  Thinking about naming it the Subtle Art of Not Swearing on Every Single Page.  Heh.
Do you struggle with worry and anxiety?

Try turning off the news.  The news is quite possibly the source of much of your worry.

The job of the news media is to make every problem your problem.

But, every problem isn’t your problem.  Not to put too fine a point on it, you can’t do much about most of the world’s problems.

Not only that, the news is a time suck.  If you spend a half hour a day consuming the news, and if you do that six days a week, that’s over 156 hours per year!  That’s a lot of negativity.  It just isn’t worth it.

According to the U. S. Department of State it takes about 750 hours to learn French.  Turn off the news and spend a half hour a day studying French, and in 5 years (probably less), you will know French.

Instead of watching, listening to, or reading the news, try reading a book.  Or studying a foreign language.  Or walking.  Or working out.  Or biking.  Or learning to write.  Or spending time with your family and friends.  Try almost almost anything but the news.

I promise.  You will find more joy if you start ignoring problems that just aren’t your problem.

I’m not the only one who feels this way.  Check out this article by Stephen and Lauren over at Trip of a Lifestyle:  https://www.tripofalifestyle.com/perspective/the-joy-of-ignoring-problems/
