I didn’t post all summer. Maybe I should start calling this the “infrequent word of the day”.
Anyway, now that school is back in I’m back.
One of my favorite words is estivate, also spelled aestivate.
To estivate is to sleep during the summer because it’s too hot outside.
This is my excuse for not posting this summer. I was estivating. Some people get seasonal depression when it’s too cold outside. I tend to get seasonal depression when it’s too hot. And, so I estivate.
Estivate, which really is an English word, by the way, comes from the Latin word for summer, aestas.
