I’ve been on a bit of a rant, but I remember feeling so stupid as a kid.

Why?

Schools manufacture people who think that they’re smart but they’re not. Schools also manufacture people who think that they’re dumb but they’re not.

Don’t let school define who you are.

There were many years when I did see myself through the lens of the school system. I’m so grateful for my rich dad who let me see another version of myself.

Me again.  This line really struck me: Schools manufacture people who think that they’re smart but they’re not. Schools also manufacture people who think that they’re dumb but they’re not.

I have seen this play out again and again over my years as a teacher.

I have also watched this play out in Williamson County, Tennessee, where I live.  Williamson County is the wealthiest county in Tennessee.  I got here in 1998.  Good thing I did.  I couldn’t afford to live here if I were moving here now.

Anyway… in Williamson County, it’s school, school, school.  Where do you go to school?  Where are you going to school?  Where did you go to school?

We have a statue of a Confederate soldier downtown.

I thought about suggesting we remove the statue and set up a golden idol in the shape of a school/college.

But, then I changed my mind.

Someone might actually think it’s a good idea… and do it.

I agree with Mr. Kiyosaki. Don’t let school define who you are.
