Hello! My question is regarding Henle Latin 1 online.

I’d like my 11th-grade son to take your course, but to start it immediately. Since your classes are recorded, is there any way that after I sign up for membership we can access those recorded classes and began immediately, rather than wait till your next session starts in August?

Also, years ago this same son went 1/2 way through Henle 1 with Classical Conversations, but we ended up not going back to that program the following years.

My question is about your schedule of how you complete so much during one year. Is there a schedule/syllabus that I can look at?

Thanks

Good morning!

Sure! You could do that.

I record every class I teach, and I only take them down if I am updating them.  I have quite a few students who use the previous classes only.  In fact, many prefer this as they can move at their own rate.  Students are always welcome to contact me if they have any questions.

Basically, we move at the rate of one chapter per week.  Sometimes the chapters are very small, and when they are, we double up the chapters.

The Henle Latin series is not user-friendly.  Because of that, I try to get students through the series as quickly as I am able.

Mr. Henle divides Latin into 4 years.  If students spend two or three years in First Year Latin, that only keeps them in Latin longer.  This keeps many students from studying a language they could actually become conversant in (like Spanish, or French).  In my opinion, this is a tragedy.

Therefore, I try to get students in First Year Latin by Robert Henle through the book in… well, the first year.

Let me know if you need more help!
