I received this inquiry:

I have a question about VisualLatin2. I am 12 years old and have just finished VisualLatin1 this past year. My final/total score was about 87% for the year. Do you think I would be okay taking VL2 on my own next year, or would it be a big step up?

Here is my reply:

Hi!

VL 2 picks up right where VL 1 left off.  87% is a good grade in Latin.  Latin is one of the toughest subjects you will ever tackle.  If you are scoring an average of 87%, you are doing well!

You are ready for VL 2.  Just keep a few things in mind.  VL 2 is only going to get harder as you go.  Latin is tough.  I wish that were not true, but it is.  There is no way around it.  You are climbing a tough mental mountain.  Just brace yourself.  VL 2 isn’t going to be easy.

Second, VL is a video course.  You can always repeat and review anything you do not fully understand.  Don’t be afraid to review.

Third, do not be afraid to contact me if you get stuck.  I am happy to help you if you are struggling.  Even though VL is done, I am still making videos to explain difficult Latin concepts.  Many students need further explanation.  I am happy to help.

I am impressed that you are heading into VL 2 as a 12-year-old.  You must be a hard worker.  Keep it up, and keep in touch!

Mr. Thomas
