I am in the process of loading lost “tips of the week” into my site.  I sent this one out in August of 2019.  It may no longer apply.

Remember some time ago, when the guys in charge of our credit scores, Equifax, compromised our credit scores?

Well, it turns out, the Federal Trade Commission, told them they had been very bad and now they needed to make things right.

Equifax agreed to pay $125 to everyone affected.

About half of us in the United States were affected.  Which means you might be able to get a $125 check (or, card) from Equifax.

To find out if you qualify, just click here: https://eligibility.equifaxbreachsettlement.com/en/eligibility.

You will need to provide your last name and the last 6 digits of your Social Security number.  Or, Social insecurity, as I like to call it.

If you qualify (I didn’t), you will have to fill out a short form to file a claim.

There is some bad news.  If enough people file a claim (250,000, I think), then everyone will get less money.  And, you will not get a check until Christmastime at the earliest.

Still.  Worth a shot.  I tried.  I didn’t get any money, but I did get the peace of mind that comes from knowing the company in charge of protecting my credit protected my credit… for now.
