Honestly, I thought I had tried all of the language courses out there.

Then, about a month ago, a reader told me to check out Language Transfer.  (Thanks, Mary!)

It took me a while, but this week, I decided to check it out.

I like it.

Language Transfer reminds me of the old Michel Thomas (no relation) series of languages.  Michel Thomas was a language teacher who moved to California and marketed himself as the language teacher of the stars.  Movie stars, that is.

You can still buy his courses, but they are rather expensive.  For instance, here is Spanish.  It’s $170.

Language Transfer is very similar to the Michel Thomas method.  Only… it’s free.

Language Transfer also reminds me of the Magic Key series by Margarita Madrigal.  I am a big fan of that series.  Unfortunately, only the Magic Key to Spanish is still in print.  The Magic Keys to French and German are out of print and are very expensive.

Thanks to Language Transfer, we now have an audio version similar to the courses I just mentioned.

A teacher guides a student through the language and we get to listen along.  This week, I’ve been listening to the French course.  I am nearly done.

It’s a pretty simple format, and yet, it works.

If you are looking for a great introduction to a language this summer, or if you need to brush up on a language you already know, check out Language Transfer.

There are lessons available for  French, Spanish, German, Italian, Greek, Arabic, Turkish and Swahili.

All you have to commit is time.  The lessons are completely free.
