Tip of the Week #384: 🇫🇷 We Just Finished Filming Visual French 2!
I have some exciting news! Compass Classroom and I just finished filming Visual French 2!
After months of teaching, recording, and working through French lessons, we’re finally finished!
The experience reminded me of something I’ve believed for years:
The best way to learn a language is to spend lots of time with the language itself.
Not just studying grammar rules. Not just memorizing vocabulary lists. Actually reading, listening to, and understanding the language.
That’s one reason I love Le Français par la Méthode Nature, the textbook we use in Visual French. The book teaches French almost entirely in French.
The book starts with simple sentences. Pictures, context, and repetition help you understand what you’re reading. Then, little by little, the sentences become longer. The vocabulary grows. The grammar becomes more complicated.
Before long, you’re reading entire stories in French. And you’re understanding them!
Here’s my advice:Â Spend a little time every day reading or listening to something you can mostly understand in the language you’re learning.
Don’t worry about understanding every word. Don’t stop to look up every unfamiliar expression. Just keep reading. Let the context help you.
Twenty minutes a day, consistently, can make an enormous difference over time.
And if you’re studying French with me, I’m happy to report that Visual French 2 is one big step closer to being ready!

Almost every Saturday, I send out a Tip of the Week. The tip of the week is usually something I have picked up along the way that may make your life a little easier.
If you would like to hear from me (almost) every Saturday, just go to the home page of my site and plug in your name and email.  You will also get a free digital copy of my book on learning Latin (and almost anything else). Just go here: https://dwanethomas.com/ and enter your name and email.
If you want to buy the digital book instead (because you just feel like buying me a cup of coffee) go here:Â https://dwanethomas.gumroad.com/l/fzixlh
If you are interested in learning Latin, you can go through the classes on my site 24/7. I recommend the book Lingua Latina by Hans Ørberg.
If you tackle the book and find yourself bogged down, you may find the classes on my site helpful. To join, just click here: https://dwanethomas.com/join/
If you want a more professionally filmed Latin learning experience, check out the best-selling DVD series:Â Visual Latin.
Or, if you want to skip Latin, and just jump right into learning English words from Latin and Greek roots, you may enjoy the series Word Up! Warning.  Word Up! is a bit wacky. You will learn a lot… but, you may find yourself rolling your eyes, too.
I teach other languages on my site, too. The current schedule is here: https://dwanethomas.com/schedule/
